My name is Gaye Lynn Schankweiler. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Psychotherapist. My private practice is located in Broomfield, Colorado.

In my practice I work with children, adolescents, families, and adults. My goal is to help each client identify their own specific needs and then help them set appropriate goals to meet those needs.When working with children, I generally use Play Therapy or Sand Tray Therapy, since children are not always going to want to talk about their issues. Play Therapy includes such things as therapeutic games, puppet shows, and art work.

If a client has a history of trauma I will often use EMDR. EMDR can also be used to help a client with depression or anxiety. I use cognitive therapy when the client is struggling with negative thinking or low self-esteem.
